The Stryper System Drill: The Sand Splash Station
-
The Goal: To train the two most important fundamentals of bunker play: a forward ball position and a precise sand entry point.
-
The Old Way: Drawing a line in the sand with your finger-a method that disappears after one shot and is hard to replicate.
-
The Stryper Method (A Clear, Consistent Target):
- Set the Stance: Place your StanceMate in the bunker. Use it to set a wide stance and a forward ball position, in line with your lead heel. This setup is crucial for a high splash shot.
- The Drill's Focus: The StanceMate's central ruler is now on the sand. Your only goal is to make a swing where your club enters the sand on the ruler markings 2-3 inches behind where the ball would be.
- The Feedback: The StanceMate provides a clear, durable visual target in the sand. It forces you to focus on the sand, not the ball. You can practice hitting your entry point over and over without needing to redraw a line. By guaranteeing a perfect ball position and giving you a precise target, this drill takes the fear out of bunker shots.

What are the quick questions golfers keep asking?
Q: Why mark the entry point before you even swing?
A: Consistency in bunkers lives in hitting the sand the same depth every time. Draw a line two inches behind the ball and make the splash land there.
Q: How do you change yardage without wrecking the entry point?
A: Keep the strike on that same line and vary length and tempo. Longer backswing, same entry, then hold the finish-the rollout listens to follow-through length.
