SwingMate

Sold out

We originally built the SwingMate with a standard “gate drill” top of mind.

A gate drill is where you place alignment rods into the ground for and then "thread the needle".

For example, you can set up a rod on your trail side angle of your ideal swing plane (approx. 60-65 degrees). Swinging under this trail-side rod usually results in an in-to-out swing path (called a draw). An ideal angle for this is approximately 1-2 degrees.

Golf coaches the world over will tell you when you are trying to correct a fault, over-exaggerate the opposite. With SwingMate, we have CNC-drilled holes at 4 degrees to the Target Line (in both fade and draw) so you have a visual aid for what that looks like.

The centre hole is the Target Line (where the ball lines up with the target) and using an alignment rod in this hole also creates a perfect stabiliser for the base.

We didn’t leave out the left-handed golfers. It is symmetrical and Leftie simply uses the different holes as marked on the base plate.

While 90% of golfers struggle with a slice, we also cater for those who hook, with the opposite angles also available as a visual aid to tame your in-to-out path.

MULTI-AXIS ADJUSTMENT – The hinges are adjustable for vertical angle of your alignment rods and also rotate on the horizontal axis to fine-tune precisely how close you’d like them to be.

Features

What's Included

SWINGMATE INCLUSIONS: 1 base plate, 2 x our proprietary-designed adjustable rod holder hinges, 400mm target line (ball) rod, 2 x 600mm draw/fade alignment rods. 1 x 1200mm foldable alignment rod, 1 x 1600mm foldable alignment rod. Drawstring carry bag. $169.

Take it slow and build up

You would have to be wildly off target to hit the SwingMate in any way to cause major harm to you or your clubs. But in any case, take it slow. The way to better golf is not full swings, but doing slower drills to gain muscle memory. Build up from slow before you start hitting full shots.

When you’re ready to challenge yourself, build your speed, making sure you don’t slip into old habits. Increase the speed to 50% then 70, then 90, then full speed. Whenever your shots start to become erratic, go back a step.

Stability

SwingMate is made from aluminium so it weighs enough for it to not need any stabilisers for simpler drills with shorter alignment rods. However, it also has holes for stabilizer rods at multiple points on both sides. With at least one rod in the base it will be stable for the vast majority of drills with standard-length alignment rods. There are also holes for additional stabilisers as well if you are going to get super creative.

Quick adjust rod angles

Based on our own proprietary hinge design, you can quickly change the angle of the alignment rods to suit swing plane, hand height or many other drills. And we have the angles printed right there on the hinge so you know exactly where you are at all times AND be able to record precise angles for your favourite drills.

Golfer size

The SwingMate can be used by golfers of all ages and sizes. The StanceMate is designed for a minimum stance width of 17cm. From our testing that roughly equates to a 12-year-old child. The system expands to a massive 56cm-wide stance, so even Bryson should be able to use it.

Great for indoor or artificial tees

The idea for Stryper products started when we got frustrated we couldn’t do our favourite alignment stick drills on the indoor range, or the artificial tee box on the outdoor range.

Simulator friendly

There’s no problems with SwingMate or StanceMate blocking the view of your ball when using Trackman or other launch monitors or simulators.

Use any alignment rods

The holes in SwingMate fit any standard 5/16” (approx. 8mm) alignment rods sold worldwide. Use ours or use your own.

Mollydookers welcome

Australian slang for a left-handed person is a “mollydooker”. We’ve built both the SwingMate and the StanceMate completely compliant for our back-handed brethren.

Rod Size

Fits all standard golf alignment rods (5/16” or approx. 8mm).

Challenge accepted

Once you start getting things downpat, by all means lengthen the alignment sticks, or make them closer to your swing path. The world’s your oyster.

Use one or many

Each base comes with two hinges which will get you started. Add another hinge -even buy an extra SwingMate - and the types of drills you can achieve are almost limitless.

Adjustable on dual axis for multiple rods

Most other alignment rod holders don’t allow angle AND rotation of rods, AND also able to have them set up accurately in relation to other rods.

Getting Started

How to use SwingMate

At STRYPER what we have done is tried to get back to basics. Unpack everything and build it back up to a repeatable system. It will never replace a one-on-one coaching session. But it costr less than a single lesson and you can make adjustments and know exactly where to start from next time.

Confidence in your system

With practice comes improvement. But you could argue that even more important than that is confidence. You don’t need to know why it works, but you need to have confidence in it.

You may use a clock system for your chipping and pitching to regulate distance, or grip down the club for shorter shots. Some people use different wedges for different lies, some people only have one wedge and open/close the face.

Now, you can use StanceMate and SwingMate to build a complete full-swing system that works for you.
Whatever you do, measure it, improve it, trust it.

Draw & Fade

What is draw?

Let’s start with why golfers are chasing the elusive draw. When you hit a ball in a slight in-to-out path it puts spin characteristics on the ball that makes the ball go further. Especially when it lands, it will roll out further. Longer shots mean you are closer to the hole with each shot, and that means you can use a shorter club to be more accurate when aiming at the green. (A shorter club is easier to be more accurate). This shot with spin on it starts to the outside of the Target Line and spins its way back to the centre line. This is called a DRAW.

When someone hits a beautiful draw – with ball compression that feels buttery smooth off the club face and rolls out further than your buddies - you’ll often hear people say “Geez you striped that!”. That’s where the name Stryper comes from!

In case you were wondering, a draw is not always the best shot! If you have a bunker on the right side you may want to play a dead straight shot or even play what’s called “face” or a “cut” – a shot that starts to the left of the target for a right-hander - to minimize the risk of ending up in the sand.
There is nothing wrong with these shots, they just don’t go quite as far, which means you’ll need to use a “longer” club to achieve the same distance. SwingMate also has the ability to practice these types of shots by using the fade holes.

You can also get as creative as you like and even use extra hinges to really challenge yourself. You can have swing path, hand position and rotation drills all working together. It’s intense, but get it right and watch those Trackman numbers improve!
